Solar panels installed at Opava site

More than 1,300 solar panels have been installed at our Opava powder coatings site in the Czech Republic, which will generate around 15% of the plant’s total electricity needs. Covering nearly 2,800 square meters, the total installed capacity is around 575 MWh.

The project will make an important contribution to our ambition of having 100% renewable electricity in our own operations by 2030.

“I’m proud that we managed to implement a project that not only supports AkzoNobel's sustainability strategy, but also generates significant financial savings for energy consumption,” says Site Manager, Marek Langer.

“It will also strengthen awareness in the local region that we care about transitioning to renewable electricity.”

The next phase of the project will involve building battery storage to optimize energy use and improve efficiency even more.
