Facility updates
We have heard the community’s concerns regarding our Sunshine North facility and want to keep you updated. This website has been created to keep the community of Sunshine North informed about the facility and act as a means for members of the community to provide feedback and post questions to AkzoNobel.
AkzoNobel is currently liaising with the EPA on its response to questions and concerns from the Sunshine North community about odors and noise coming from the facility. AkzoNobel is working closely with the EPA to conduct monitoring and testing, and action is being taken to resolve these issues. Attached is our Communications and Engagement Strategy. Community Reference Group
The second AkzoNobel Community Reference Group (CRG) meeting took place on 16th August. It was another productive conversation – AkzoNobel provided updates and took feedbacks on noise and odour mitigation efforts, as well as the company’s community engagement activities. We would like to thank the participants, who continued to represent the interests of neighbours and community members. The next meeting will take place in November.
Community Forums
AkzoNobel welcomed 30+ community members on site on Wednesday, 28th September, for the Sunshine North plant Open Day. This was an opportunity for the community to meet members of the AkzoNobel team, get updates and provide feedback on operations and measures to address odour and noise, and receive a tour of the facility. We would like to thank the community members who attended and contributed the respective inputs, feedbacks.
AkzoNobel and EPA has hosted various community forums to address concerns about odour and noise. The latest community forum #6 was organized in person on 31 May 2022 which has been opportunity to provide updates on the company’s plans and actions being taken to resolve the concerns and for community to raise points and have their questions addressed.
